Dolores Mission School is clearly invested in the teachings of St. Ignatius as evidenced by the daily practices of Ignatian traditions such as the daily examen, the mission of “forming men and women for and with others” and engaging in service and social justice projects and activities throughout the year. This year we would like to plant the seed to intentionally celebrate St. Ignatius. The Feast of St. Ignatius is celebrated annually on July 31st. Since this is a date when we are not in school, we would like to celebrate him on March 12th, which marks the day in 1622 when Pope Gregory XV canonized St. Ignatius of Loyola along with St. Francis Xavier. “Every year on that date, each Jesuit offers a special prayer or Mass of Thanksgiving for the gift of the saints’ canonizations” (See more at: http://www.jesuit.org) . At Dolores Mission School we are developing a new tradition and hope to post pictures of activities up on the website for all to see. We look forward to sharing this with you, in the meantime, you can use this day especially to ask your child to tell you about St. Ignatius!
